The Bermuda Triangle of Romania: Hoia Baciu Forest in Cluj-Napoca

in

The Hoia-Baciu Forest is located near Cluj-Napoca, Romania and is locally referred to as the Bermuda Triangle of Romania. The Hoia-Baciu Forest was named after a baci that disappeared in the forest with a flock of two hundred sheep. In the Romanian language, a baci is a leader of a shepherd community. The search for this man went on for days and spanned out across several counties, but they found no trace of the man or his sheep.

The local baci and his large flock of sheep weren’t the only ones to disappear within the forest. There was a 5-year-old child who wandered into the forest. She emerged from the forest wearing the same clothes, yet she was five years older. Another report is of a woman who entered the Hoia-Baciu who came out with no memory of the amount of time that passed and found an item in her pocket that was perceived of having origins in ancient history.

Why People are Afraid to Enter Hoia-Baciu Forest

Most of the locals are genuinely afraid to enter or come near the Hoia-Baciu Forest. They believe that most people to enter the forest never return. Those that have been fortunate to return from their visit into the forest have claimed to have suffered from various illnesses as a result of entering the forest. Many of the complaints include rashes, nausea and vomiting, migraines, burns, scratches, anxiety, and other strange bodily sensations. They have also witnessed several strange unexplained events that occur within the forest. The most common unexplained activity includes seeing mysterious orb-like lights, female voices, giggling, apparitions, and cases of people being scratched.

The orb-like lights have been seen within the tree line

Some can be seen at ground level, yet others are up at the top of the tree line. When using a thermal, these lights don’t seem to be producing any heat signatures. Some accounts have talked about lights that shoot straight up in the sky from the forest.

When the Destination Truth team visited the Hoia-Baciu Forest, they not only encountered the reported mysterious lights but also had some other noteworthy experiences. When they sent a member of their crew to sit alone in the round field, he mentioned hearing female voices and giggling. Right before their eyes at base camp, Evan was mysteriously thrown to the edge of the field by an unseen force. After searching for him they found him dazed and in shock. Once alert enough, he said it was like a strong wind from above came down and pushed him out across the field. He also had significant scratches on his arms underneath his thick coat. The Destination Truth team captured Evan’s experience on video. Shortly after this incident their medic, Rex, felt sick to his stomach and began vomiting.

One theory is that the Hoia-Bacui Forest is a portal

Some researchers believe it is a portal for spirits to travel to this plane from the other side. Others believe that it is a hot spot for extra-terrestrials to travel to our world. Even still, there are researchers that believe that there are two portals located in this forest for both spirits and extra-terrestrials. They also believe that the spirits protect this place for the extra-terrestrials.

On August 18, 1968, a well-known Hoia-Baciu research and biologist named Alexandru Sift released pictures of a disc-shaped object over the Hoia Baciu Forest. This isn’t the only eyewitness account. All sighting of UFOs tends to be above or around the round field. The round field is a field within the Hoia-Baciu Forest where no vegetation grows. It has also been noted that there are high EMF (electromagnetic fields) readings within the round field. In 2009, the popular television series Destination Truth, Josh Gates took soil samples from within the round field and samples of soil outside the round field where foliage seemed to grow with no problems. The analysis came back that all the soil samples were the same, therefore there was no biological reason why nothing seems to grow within the round field.

The Hoia-Baciu Forest is open to the public year-round. Many researchers and enthusiasts visit the forest trying to experience or debunk the occurrences within the forest. Each visit seems to raise more questions and varied theories. Regardless, Hoia-Baciu Forest still remains in the top ten of the most haunted locations in Europe.
